CR2 is Canon's RAW photo format, written by EOS DSLRs and many PowerShots — the 5D, 6D, 7D, and Rebel/xxxD lines all produce CR2 files. A CR2 stores the unprocessed sensor data with far more highlight and shadow latitude than a JPEG, which is exactly why most apps, websites, and phones refuse to open it. Converting CR2 to JPG gives you a universally viewable, shareable photo.
File Transmute decodes the CR2 on your own device with a WebAssembly RAW engine and falls back to Canon's full-size embedded preview when needed — your photos are never uploaded and conversion works offline. Shooting one of Canon's newer mirrorless bodies? Those write CR3, so use the CR3 to JPG tool. To process a whole card of mixed files, the general RAW to JPG converter takes them all at once.
