Convertio Alternative
Convertio uploads your files and limits free use by size and daily count (around 100 MB on the free tier). File Converts keeps files on your device — no upload, no size-based paywall for in-browser tools, and it works offline.

What Convertio is
Convertio is the closest direct counterpart in this comparison: a browser-first converter with a broad format list and a clean drag-and-drop page, aimed at the same person doing the same one-off job. The difference is not the interface. It is what happens to the file after you drop it in.
Where Convertio wins
Breadth on formats that have no browser implementation, and raw throughput on large media. Because the encoding happens on their hardware rather than yours, a large video will often finish faster on Convertio than in a browser tab on an older or low-powered machine.
The actual trade-off
Convertio limits free use by file size; we are limited by what your own device can hold in memory. Neither is truly unlimited — but ours is a ceiling you can feel and work around, and reaching it does not involve anyone else receiving a copy of your file.
Choose Convertio if
Your file is larger than your device can comfortably process, or you need a format pair with no in-browser equivalent.
Choose File Converts if
The file is confidential, you are on a metered or intermittent connection, or the file sits comfortably within what a browser can handle — which covers the large majority of everyday PDFs, images and documents.
