Terms of Service
Last updated: June 7, 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
By using File Transmute (the "Service") you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
2. The service
File Transmute provides file-conversion tools. Most tools run entirely in your browser and are free to use without an account. Some advanced tools run on our servers, and certain features (the API, larger files, higher limits) require a paid plan.
We may add, change, or remove tools and features over time.
3. Acceptable use
You must own, or have the rights to, any files you convert. You agree not to use the Service to process content that is illegal, infringes others' rights, or that you are not authorized to handle.
You agree not to misuse the Service: no attempting to break, overload, or circumvent rate limits or security; no automated abuse outside the documented API and your plan's limits; and no reverse-engineering except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
4. Accounts
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials and API keys secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use.
5. Plans, billing & cancellation
Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis through our payment providers (Stripe and/or PayPal). Prices are shown on the pricing page and are in USD unless stated otherwise.
You can cancel at any time; your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period, and we don't provide pro-rated refunds for partial periods unless required by law. Credits included with a plan are for use within the Service and have no cash value.
6. Intellectual property
The Service, its software, and its branding are owned by us and our licensors. You keep all rights to your own files and the output you create — we claim no ownership of your content.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that every conversion will be perfect for every file, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Always keep a copy of your original files.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, File Transmute will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or use the Service in a way that risks harm to others or to the Service.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. We'll update the "last updated" date and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
11. Governing law & contact
The Service is operated by Unique Technology Group, Springfield, VA, United States. These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States. Questions? Email support@file-converts.com.
