File Transmute unlocks password-protected PDFs on your device. Enter the current password and File Transmute decrypts the file locally and saves an unprotected copy. Your file and password never leave your device. (You must know the password — this isn't a way to break protection you don't have rights to.)
Best for
- Removing a password from a PDF you own so it opens without prompting
- Making a protected document easy to read, print, or combine
- Clearing a password before merging or editing a PDF
Good to know
Removes a password you already know from a PDF, producing an unprotected copy — all on your device, nothing uploaded. It's for documents you're authorised to open: it can't crack or bypass a password you don't have. To add a password instead, use Protect PDF.
